by Michelle on January 26, 2011

The rates of the four largest electricity providers in Maryland are likely to decrease sometime during the summer of 2011 according to recent estimates.

Allegheny Energy Inc., Potomac Electric Power Co., Baltimore Gas and Electric Co., and Delmarva Power and Light have all released their 2011 estimates which show a probable decrease.

Rates vary considerably from one electricity provider to the next so call Electric Rates now at 1-800-971-4020 to find the lowest electricity rate in your area.

  • As high as a 14 percent decrease in electricity rates can be expected.
  • This is the first time that a double-digit decrease has been expected.
  • Following the 2006 removal of rate caps there was an increase in electricity rates of 72 percent.

The decrease in the rates of these four companies will result in significantly lower utility bills for their customers.

In some cases consumers could see as much as a $277 per year decrease in their bills.

Even with all four of these Maryland electricity providers lowering their rates the rates from one company to the next can vary considerably.
