Another Story of Rising Electricity Rates

by Michelle on January 27, 2011

Stories are popping up all over the place about rising electricity rates and California’s electric rates are no different.

Central Lincoln People’s Utility District has already seen rising rates as of November 1st, the first increase in rates for more than a year but a fairly steep one.

Call Electric Rates at 1-800-971-4020 and they may be able to find you a lower electricity supply rate than what you are already paying if you live in certain areas of California.

  • As of November 1st Central Lincoln residential customers saw a rate increase of 3.5%.
  • The 3.5% adds up to be between 6.14 and 6.31 cents per kilowatt hour.
  • In October of 2009 rates increased by 4.6%.
  • In the 13 months since October 2009 residential customers have seen a total of 8.1% in electricity rate increases.

With increases in utility rates obviously being a persistent trend it is hard to know how much you will be paying for electricity from one year to the next.

It is unclear when the next rate increase will be but one thing is for sure and that is that electricity rates do not stay the same for long.

The deregulation of the utilities market though allows electricity consumers to shop around for lower rates and in many cases even fixed rates.

Use the Electric Rates comparison tool to find energy companies in your area offering lower and fixed rates.

Simply enter your zip code into the Electric Rates comparison tool and sign up when you see a company and a plan that you like.

Lower rates on your California electricity are only a click or a phone call away.
