Oncor Rate Review Could Result in Rate Increase for Some Texas Energy Customers

by Michelle on January 13, 2011

Energy rates in Texas vary greatly from county to county and from energy company to energy company and a number of customers are experiencing rate increases when they really do not have to.

Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC has recently filed the paperwork to have a review of their rates conducted and the review could result in an increased rate for some Oncor customers.

Paperwork was filed on January 7 but there is no information regarding how soon a rate increase may kick in.

Customers of Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC should contact Electric Rates to compare the company’s rates to rates of additional companies serving the area in order to ensure they are getting the best deal on their electricity services.

  • If a rate increase is approved customers currently paying 10 cents per kWh would begin paying approximately 10.4 cents per kWh.
  • For customers using 1300 kWh of electricity each month this represents a $5 per month increase on energy bills.
  • Even if a rate increase is imposed Oncor will continue to be the lowest rate energy company in the state of Texas.
  • The rate increase request is to generate approximately $350 million in revenue to be used for such projects as infrastructure improvements.

Nobody likes to hear about rate increases even if the company proposing the increase offers the lowest rates in the state.  Texas energy company Oncor Electric may not overcharge for energy delivery now but an increase is an increase and still has to be adjusted to by customers that do not like change when it comes to their money.

Three million plus homes and businesses have their electricity provided by Oncor so a rate increase would affect a large number of energy consumers.  Oncor customers should start doing their research now to find a company that offers low rates and does not have any intentions of increasing them any time soon.

Compare multiple energy company rates, including Oncor’s, by calling Electric rates at 1-800-971-4020.

Let the people at Electric Rates help you to determine the Texas energy company with the best rates being offered so you are not stuck paying too much.
